About The Gathering House
Our Mission
Our Mission at The Gathering House is to cultivate a culture of discipleship. We are a small community of believers who are striving each day to be a little more like Christ than we were the day before. We are more than individuals attending a worship service inside the same four walls... Rather, we are a people living life together centered around Christ, and striving to worship Him by word and by deed through every interaction we have with others.
Our Core Beliefs
We believe in One God, comprised of three Persons in the Trinity (The Father, The Son, And the Holy Spirit). He is the eternal Author and Sustainer of all things.

We believe that God is perfect and Holy... We on the other hand are flawed. We believe that our sin, which goes against God's perfect Law, caused a separation between God and man that requires atonement. The Bible tells us that the consequence of sin is death and hell, however, Jesus is the atonement for our sin. We believe He died for us on the cross and conquered the grave in His resurrection. We believe that believing and confessing Jesus as Lord is the only way to be reconciled to God.

We believe that Salvation is by grace, though faith, at the finished work of what Jesus did on the cross. We believe that we can't work our way into Heaven, nor can we work our way out of Heaven... Rather our good works come as a byproduct of the transformation that has taken place in us. It is the Holy Spirit who draws us unto Himself and seals us for the day of redemption. We simply believe and confess the Lordship of Christ.

We believe the scriptures breathed out by God are for the purpose of teaching, reproof, correction, edification, and training. We believe God inspired and used human hands to write the books of the Bible that teach us the truths about who He is. While we acknowledge that humanity is flawed, we believe that God is capable of miraculously sharing and preserving His truth though these authors. We believe ultimately that the interaction we have with the Holy Spirit through reading the scriptures reveals God to us.

Our Story
The Gathering House is the result of the inspiration and vision of a few... the faith and perseverance of many... and the power and provision of One, Christ Jesus.
Dr. T.A. "Shrek" Nalian and his team answered the call of God to plant the Gathering House in Royal Oak, MI during the height of the Covid Pandemic in September 2020. The two remaining overseers of the property, "Mother" Betty Jo and "Sister" Jo handed over the keys with only one stipulation: to use the building as a place where the Gospel of Jesus Christ would continue to be preached. Since planting the church, so many people have faithfully served to transform the Gathering House into what it is today.
Pastor "Shrek" went to Heaven in April 2021. After prayerful consideration, the Church installed Brad Stuart as the new Senior Pastor in September 2021. The church family God brought together continues to grow, worship, serve one another and the community, and share the Good News that we have in Jesus.
Today, The Gathering House is so much more than a little building on Lincoln Avenue in Royal Oak. It's a community, built on the foundation of Christ... where we find Real Hope... Real Belonging... and a Real God.
